1 Hotel is situated in the picturesque Haitang Bay, and it opened its doors in early 2020 as the fifth 1 Hotel globally and the inaugural appearance of the 1 Hotels brand in the Asia-Pacific region. The overall design of the hotel is based on the abundant resources of the Sanya region, revolving around environmental conservation principles to create a luxurious and tranquil retreat that captures the captivating beauty of nature.
Nina Arily, the designer responsible for the hotel's interior design, stated, "We were deeply drawn to Sanya's fertile volcanic plains, lush forested hills, pristine sandy beaches, and azure blue waters, aiming to integrate the island's characteristics, spirit, and ecological diversity into the hotel design." The acrylic glass-bottomed swimming pool in the hotel is a crowning touch to the hotel's design philosophy.

At the inception of the acrylic glass-bottom swimming pool construction at 1 Hotel, there was a plan to build the world's largest cantilevered glass-bottom pool. After determining the pool dimensions to be 180 feet in length and 72 feet in width, and to fully capture the surrounding scenic views, transparent glass walls were also required on all four sides of the pool. This undoubtedly posed a significant challenge. Ultimately, through the collaborative efforts of the Soho Horizon design team and the hotel design team, a solution was confirmed involving 27 acrylic glass panels forming the pool. These acrylic glass panels varied in shapes and sizes, with the largest single panel weighing close to 9 tons. The entire process took six months to complete, resulting in the world's largest acrylic glass-bottom swimming pool.
